The FUERTE program will immerse the young women of color in learning key success skills that will prepare her for the dynamics of the workplace. She will be challenged, taught key life disciplines, soft skills and she will learn how to have her voice heard; all while also receive mentoring and coaching throughout the duration of the program.
The program is unique in that it mirrors the army’s 10-week boot camp. We use experiential learning to teach the key success skills in order to make the learning more memorable.

Week Zero: Transformation Begins.
This is preparation time for each student. She will buy the class material and ensure that every Saturday is marked on her calendar. She will announce departure from the normal routines for the next 10 weeks to family and friends.
Week One: Fall In Reception.
Meet your team, rules and regulations, and the process for the next 10 weeks. The topic is Commitment & Time Management. The emphasis will be on the importance of being her word. A social event will be part of the day and begin the process of collaboration. Mentors will be in attendance at the social event.
Week Two: Understanding Your Strengths .
Understanding your strengths and values and the message you are communicating to the world will be explored. We will use Strengthsfinders to look inwardly and then garner in understanding of how to better connect with others.
Week Three: Trials-Critical & Creative Thinking.
Through a series of challenging exercises the students will learn how to think on their feet. They will also have to use creativity to get themselves out of tough situations. This class will prepare the students to use impulse control and flexibility during stressful times.
Week Four: Building Confidence .
Confidence requires getting out of your comfort zone. We challenge each student with several improv exercises that require them to think and act fast and to let go of fear of speaking up in public. This class is quite transformational in that each student realizes that they have a powerful voice.
Week Five: Professional Presence.
The students will conduct an audit of their personal brand. They will learn how to communicate and strengthen their personal brand, including developing an elevator speech. A photo shoot will capture the true essence of each student.
Week Six: Telling Your Story .
Understanding your story is the beginning of knowing how to connect with others. We will learn how to use story telling techniques to help the students project themselves with confidence and strength.

Week Seven: Dealing with Conflict.
It is inevitable that conflict exist in the workplace. We will provide key skills that will enable the students to have impulse control, stronger interpersonal skills, flexibility and empathy.
Week Eight: Teamwork
Learning to operate in a team environment is a key skill to master. We will learn how this is done in a High Ropes/Zip Line course, which will call on team support and team strategy.
Week Nine: Combat Skill Development-GRIT.
Dr. Angela Duckwork’s research indicates that GRIT is the secret ingredient to success. We will teach the students perseverance through a series of experiential exercises.
Week Ten: Victory Forged.
Each student will demonstrate key learnings including project management, and presentation skills as they make formal presentations to a panel.
